IMMUNOTHERAPY IN TREATMENT OF HNSCC

• HNSCC cell secrete immunoregulatory cytokines IL-2, IL-4, IL-6
• These IL effect growth  inhibition directly or indirectly
• E.g. Local treatment with IL-2 given transmural injection in recurrent HNSCC: positive response
• IL-2 and IL-4 increase T cell and NK cells within tumour.
